On September 20, 2025, a very special initiative took place on Germany’s highest peak as part of World Clean Up Day: the Northern Schneeferner, Germany’s last glacier, was cleared of litter.

More than 100 volunteers, an explosive ordnance disposal team from the German Federal authorities, dedicated employees of the Bavarian Zugspitze Railway, and experienced guides from Vivalpin made their way into the high alpine terrain. There, they collected waste that had accumulated over the years – an important contribution to protecting this unique landscape.

To ensure safe footing under the demanding conditions of steep and icy ground, the helpers relied on snowline Spikes. The dependable traction devices provided grip and stability on rock, snow, and ice – an essential support during an effort where every step matters.

World Clean Up Day draws global attention to the importance of environmental protection. In the mountains especially, it becomes clear how sensitive nature and landscapes are to human impact. Initiatives like this send a strong signal for sustainability and responsibility.

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone involved for their commitment.

Together for clean mountains – safely equipped with snowline Spikes.
